ARTIST NOTES: This was a demonstration piece for my 2012 workshop at the McGregor School in Toowoomba Queensland. For a 'spot' image and demonstration work I think he turned out pretty well. I met this delightful chimpmunk in the pine forests of the mountains of Yosemite when I was back in the States for a visit in 2011. Winner of The Best Traditional Wildlife Award, 'The Art of Nature' WABA 10th Annual Members Exhibition.

ARTIST BIO

With over 40 years of experience as a professional artist specialising in all forms of drawing medium, but particularly graphite, Linda Weil is known for her engaging and detailed drawings of wildlife and nature studies. In the past decade Linda has returned to her love of imaginative, science fiction and fantastical works. Melding her experience as a naturalist artist with a mechanical bent, Linda’s work reflects a steam punk vision of the world through graphite pencil. Exhibiting regularly at Tacit Galleries in Collingwood as well as a variety of Australian art shows, further examples of her works can be viewed at:

Artist Statement: ‘Drawing, for me, is a constant joy and passion – I love to draw. A simple line can express so much. When I draw, I get engrossed in detail and subject matter. I love allowing a drawing to break out of its’ boundaries and create drawings within drawings – big concepts within small areas – encouraging the viewer see past the obvious and notice the hidden thought.
