ARTIST BIO

Born in Hastings, England, in 1934, Ann began her love of painting at an early age, when she submitted a picture into The News of The World newspaper, and won a prize. At age 15 she attended Bromley College of Art for a year, before commencing work in an office, as a Lady Tracer. Completing four years there, she felt that it was not artistic and creative enough for her to remain any longer.

Marriage and a move to Australia followed, and eventually with a family of three boys, she concentrated on rearing them over many years as they grew up.

Joining evening classes at Ringwood Technical College, and Ringwood High, she first discovered oil painting, using poster colours only.

Later after moving to the Mornington Peninsula, she dabbled in watercolours, which for Ann, appealed to her technique, and love of colours, while also finding this medium easier to manage without the smell.

She then refined her technique with watercolours, by adding gauche to her work, giving it a unique look. Ann began to enter and sell her works at local Art

Shows, winning 4 prizes at the 2002 Seniors Festival Annual Art Show, then a prize in 2004, and a 2nd in 2005 at the Red Hill Art Show.

Ann's exhibition in the 2010 Mornington Peninsula Art Show was highly commended Building up a reputation for her work, she has also sold at local galleries, where her efforts are always well received by the public.

Ann hopes to continue happily painting well into her old age.
